Will we see a BlackBerry smartphone with 64-bit processors? - Money.pl

rumors about plans for BlackBerry devices to market with 64-bit processors, which went round the world before the weekend are indeed likely to be close to the truth, but really … do not tell us too much and do not carry too much valuable information.

eight cores, 64-bit, gigabytes of RAM, the specific designation of processors, and so on and so forth. It all sounds very nice and it looks good on paper (or screen), but does mean something to users

Firstly, speaks about the plans, which will come into force at the earliest for about 1.5 years, so … can be a huge change. Debut so equipped devices may be postponed by six months, a year or maybe (for some unlikely reason) accelerated with a quarter or two. This plan may well be nothing more than a plan – an idea that is not rigidly placed in a roster of activities of the company. So we give the specific dates, specific items for the event, which is expected in such a long time after that, in general loses it’s meaning.

Secondly, the fact that this year we will not see either 64-bit or (most likely) 8-core processors offer the BlackBerry is pretty obvious. Portfolio, consisting of two high-end models, and one or more models from the lower shelves (Foxconn) does not include such components. In the case of the former probably see the type of Snapdragon processors 800, while the latter will be similar in many respects to Z10 (MSM8960 and derivatives).

Thirdly, the decision to introduce 64-bit processors will have to be extremely well thought out, especially when it comes to support for the application. As rightly pointed out on Twitter, applications written for 32-bit systems, ie all existing, new systems will work without a problem, while in the other direction as well will be gone. How many have developers creating for BlackBerry 10? How many of them decides to exert even more

Fourth, how real gain would be BlackBerry users in the use of this type of processor? For now BlackBerry 10 64-bit operating systems do not support it, so we can only keep guessing.

Yes, 64-bit is the future, and eventually all manufacturers of smartphones will follow (at least partially) this way. But the BlackBerry will have your step really well prepared, think and see at which point it will have the most sense. Yes, we will see a smartphone with the logo of hedgehogs with 64-bit processor. Rather, any special discovery.

For now, the rumors about 64-bits can be treated on a par with rumors that the second mid-2015 will launch the BlackBerry phones with a screen resolution UHD. The more that this year has just started and Canadians have prepared some really interesting products …
