A future without tablet-speculation boss BlackBerry - PolStock

A future without tablet-BlackBerry boss speculation

During the interview with Bloomberg, CEO of BlackBerry, Thorsten Heins commented on the tablet market, and its status until 2018. He stated that within five years, there will be no reason to have a tablet. Same tablets are not a good business model, he added.

Vision CEO BlackBerry is based largely on the current situation of smartphones, with more and more screens that may soon supplant tablets, or at least marginalize them, similarly to what happened with netbooks.

BlackBerry in recent years did not take too smart decisions. It failed to enter the tablet market, and maintain a good position in the rankings of smartphone sales. According to Kantar World Panel, BlackBerry mastered only 0.7% of the U.S. market.

Despite the less than favorable sales results, Thorsten Heins is optimistic, predicting that sales of the latest smartphone, Q10 will be tens of millions, and the company within five years will become the absolute leader in portable computers.

The data coming from the UK seem to partly support the hypothesis Heins. During the first days of sales, smartphone Q10 was determined by the retail chain Selfridges’ best-selling electronic device in the history of the shop. “

By the end of May, the latest smartphone from BlackBerry should hit the shelves sales in Canada, the United States and Poland. The sales results we have to wait until June 28.
